1. Light
• Sunlight: Operculicarya decaryi thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can scorch its leaves, especially if it’s a young plant.
• Indoor Light: Near a south- or west-facing window is ideal. If indoors, rotating it helps promote balanced growth.
2. Watering
• Drought Tolerance: It’s highly drought-tolerant, so it’s better to underwater than overwater. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings.
• Watering Frequency: Water moderately during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce in fall and winter when it’s dormant.
3. Soil
• Drainage: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix. Adding extra sand or perlite can improve drainage.
• Repotting: Repotting every 2-3 years is usually sufficient, as it grows relatively slowly.
