Note from Mipa - Don’t need to water too often. I recommend water once or twice a month if you want to keep it inside. If you over water, tuber will become soft and mush which you don’t want this to happen😅
Fockea edulis, also known as Hottentot Bread, is a caudiciform plant valued for its tuberous base and vining growth habit.
<Fockea edulis care>
• Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate partial shade. Protect it from harsh afternoon sun to avoid foliage damage.
• Soil: Use a well-draining mix, such as cactus or succulent soil, often supplemented with perlite or sand.
• Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During winter dormancy, reduce watering significantly, only enough to prevent the caudex from shriveling.
• Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70-95°F. It tolerates short-term frost but prefers to stay above 41°F.
• Fertilizer: Use a diluted, balanced fertilizer during the active growing season. A nitrogen-rich fertilizer promotes caudex development.
• Dormancy: During the winter, the plant may lose some or all of its leaves as it enters dormancy. Keep it cool and dry during this time.
