<Dioscorea elephantipes care>
- It’s also known as the elephant’s foot or tortoise plant, is a slow-growing caudiciform succulent native to South Africa.
- It thrives in bright, indirect light or full sun and prefers well-draining, sandy soil. Water sparingly during its active growing season (fall to spring), allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, and reduce watering significantly during dormancy (summer) when the vines die back.
- Keep it in temperatures above 50°F (10°C) and protect it from frost. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a diluted, balanced fertilizer.
- Repot only when necessary, as it grows slowly and prefers being slightly root-bound.
- This unique plant is a favorite for its sculptural caudex and seasonal climbing vines.
